Masturbation and risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate

As shows research, frequent masturbation at young men has communication with higher risk of occurrence of an early cancer of a prostate, but it, lowers risk of a cancer for men of 50 years. The high maintenance of man's sexual hormones, or androgens, can increase risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate at the man. But the various researches spent in various planes of this problem, have led to the various conclusions.

Contemplating a problem under another aspect, the command of researchers of English university of Nottingham (England's University of Nottingham) has paid attention to, whether there were men with more expressed sexual activity are subject to higher risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate.

Polyxeni Dimitropoulou, PhD; Rosalind Eeles, PhD, FRCP; and Kenneth R. Muir, PhD, have received the detailed sexual stories from 840 men. Approximately half of men has undergone to a prostate cancer by 60 years, and approximately half didn't have a cancer. Results were surprising. The sexual intercourses didn't cause risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate. But frequent masturbation caused.

"Frequent masturbation at men from 20 till 30 years and from 30 till 40 years has increased risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate", speaks Dimitropoulou WebMD. "But men from 50 till 60 years, often engaged in masturbation, have reduced thereby risk".

Certainly, frequency of masturbation is relative. For men from 20 till 30 years, "frequent masturbation" was two - seven times a week. In comparison with men of the same age who have informed that were engaged in masturbation less than once in a month, the first had on 79 % higher risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate by 60 years.

For men from 50 till 60 years, "frequent masturbation" was one or more time a week. In comparison with men of the same age who have informed that at all aren't engaged in the masturbation, the first had lower risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate on 70 %.

Where the right answer? Research hasn't been developed enough to answer this question. But at Dimitropoulou and colleagues there are some theories.

They assume that the young men genetically predisposed to occurrence a hormone - the caused cancer of a prostate, will have higher risk of its occurrence as their organisms in norm make a considerable quantity of man's hormones - the same hormones which are at the bottom of their intensive sexual activity.

Thus, not masturbation directly increases risk of occurrence of a cancer of a prostate at young men. Frequent masturbation can mean only the big sexual activity, and accordingly - there are more than the androgens operating on a fabric of a prostate.

However all in another way at more mature men. Dimitropoulou assumes that at these men masturbation can actually be useful as it deduces from prostate glands of a liquid which can contain substances causing a cancer.

"At mature age, probably, it is more important that toxins are washed away from system," the doctor speaks. "And in the event that frequency of masturbation isn't so high at men from 50 till 60 years as it was at them from 20 till 30 years, even low frequency of masturbation in 50 years has protective effect».

It only assumptions, warns Dimitropoulou. It is necessary more researches to define an exact role of sexual hormones and sexual activity in occurrence of a cancer of a prostate during the various periods of life.

At the same time, Dimitropoulou, conducting now researches at English university of Cambridge (England's University of Cambridge), advises to reduction of frequency of masturbation both for young, and for more mature men.

"It is partly logical that moderate masturbation should be supported," she speaks. "It is not enough, but also not without it".

Dimitropoulou and colleagues inform on these results in the January issue of BJU International.
